Movement is about more than strength and flexibility. It's about what your body can do, how it responds, and the possibilities that creates in everyday life.
Movement Worth Exploring
The Supported Squat
The band gives us support as we lower ourselves, allowing us to explore deeper positions with more control and confidence. Instead of avoiding a challenging range of movement, we can begin exploring it, building strength and familiarity along the way.
Everyday connection: Sitting, standing and getting closer to the ground.
Exploring the Floor
Getting down towards the ground can become something we avoid when we're unsure of our strength or balance. The band provides assistance as we lower one knee towards the floor, allowing us to explore the movement gradually while developing control and confidence.
Everyday connection: Kneeling, gardening and getting down to the floor.
Moving Beyond Straight Lines
Life doesn't always happen directly in front of us. With the security of the band, we can explore stepping sideways, shifting our weight and returning to centre. We're developing strength and control in a direction that's often overlooked.
Everyday connection: Stepping around obstacles and moving confidently in different directions.
Strength Through Connection
This isn't just a rowing exercise. The bands help support a deep, wide-legged position while providing resistance for the upper body. Legs, hips, back, arms and trunk all contribute to the movement, developing strength and coordination together.
Everyday connection: Maintaining strong positions while reaching, pulling or handling objects.
More Than a Chest Press
Pushing isn't something our arms do alone. When we press against the band while standing, our feet, legs and trunk help keep us steady as the upper body produces force. It's an opportunity to explore how strength travels through the body.
Everyday connection: Pushing doors, moving objects and staying steady while applying force.
Beyond the Bicep Curl
Even a simple curl can become an opportunity to explore whole-body connection. As the arms work against the band, the rest of the body helps maintain position and manage the resistance. Instead of thinking about one muscle in isolation, we can notice how different parts of the body work together.
Everyday connection: Lifting and carrying objects while maintaining control.
Strength Through Rotation
Turning and reaching are movements we use every day, often without giving them much thought. By working against the resistance of the band, we can explore how our feet, legs, hips and trunk coordinate to create and control rotation. It's not just about twisting further, but developing strength and control as we move in different directions.
Everyday connection: Turning to reach behind us, looking over our shoulder and changing direction.
The Way We Think About Movement
We give the body different problems to solve. Because life doesn't always move in straight lines.
